Dr Brian Timms
Dr Timms is a specialist in Paediatrics with over 30 years experience. He trained initially at the Children's Hospital in Melbourne before moving to the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, Sydney to complete his paediatric training. During that time he gained extensive training in Neonatal Intensive Care becoming the first ever BA Grace Fellow in Neonatology at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, Camperdown (now the New Sydney Children's Hospital Westmead). Dr Timms then moved to Cleveland Ohio to work in Neonatology at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital where he developed protocols to care for preterm babies. In 1993 he returned to work as a neonatologist at the Royal Children's Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne prior to a period in Queensland at Kirwan Hospital Neonatal Unit.
Since 1996 Dr Timms has worked as a general paediatrician in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. He consults at Mitcham Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital and the Bayside Consulting Suites. He continues to have an active interest in babies and is available to attend the birth or subsequent care of your baby at both Mitcham Private and Waverley Private Hospitals. His other interests are in general paediatric care (asthma, irritable babies, poor weight gain, feeding issues, feed refusal, sleep issues, chronic abdominal pain), developmental paediatrics including the assessment and diagnosis of autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, behavioural difficulties and adolescent issues. You need a referral to see Dr Timms as he is a specialist. This can be obtained from your local doctor or obstetrician.

We have been seeing Dr Brian Timms for the past 2 and a half years with all 3 of our children. We can't rate him highly enough. He takes the time to listen to all your worries and concerns about your children no matter how major or minor the issue is. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr Brian timms to any of our friends and family. He was absolutely brilliant with our family. After being allocated to his service at Mitcham private after the birth of our first son he was very thorough and informative and made me feel comfortable. He was so supportive of our family through my postnatal depression and our sons conditions - diagnosis,treatment and specialist follow up and referral around my pnd - even coming for visits while i was in the mother baby unit and spending time for a chat. After discussing with a family member what was happening we discovered they also had Brian years before us with the same outcomes and feelings. When I was asked to select a pead to be present at the birth of our second child we had no hesitations in requesting him. it was comforting to have Brian as well as our obgyn present. Felt like a friend in the room.
